ELECT LYDIA GREEN
to the New York State Assembly on June 23rd
-
I am running to win genuine progress that makes our communities whole, including:
Taxing the rich: It is past time that New York’s wealthiest residents and corporations pay their fair share of taxes to build a New York that we can all afford.
Building affordable homes: It is essential that we increase the supply of permanently affordable social housing and protect tenants so that anyone and everyone can afford to call New York home.
Protecting our communities from the climate crisis: The climate crisis is close to home for everyone in Assembly District 52, so it is of paramount urgency that we improve our climate resilience to keep our communities safe.
Delivering health care for all: Access to health care is a matter of life and death. We must keep pushing until health care is a human right for all New Yorkers.
Protecting our immigrant communities: To comprehensively protect immigrant New Yorkers, we must pass legislation and build coalitions that collectivize our capacity to resist the violent encroachment of ICE.
Championing Palestinian liberation: As one of the first New York Democratic Party officials to call for a ceasefire in Gaza, I have been and will continue to be a champion of the Not On Our Dime Act, and I am committed to fully divesting New York State from genocide and human rights abuses.
Improving our public education system: It is imperative that we relentlessly advocate for an equitably funded, desegregated public education system where every child can thrive.
Defending our democracy: We must contend with New York’s undemocratic election laws and ferociously defend New York State from federal overreach to safeguard our democracy against the onslaught of facism.
Protecting LGBTQIA+ rights: As a queer New Yorker, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to protecting and advancing LGBTQIA+ rights in New York State at a time when these rights are under attack nationally, and will do everything within my power to defend every New Yorker’s right to live freely as themselves.

My name is Lydia Green, and I am a Democratic District Leader, progressive organizer, tenant, NYC public school graduate, and queer Jewish New Yorker. I'm running for State Assembly in District 52 because Brooklyn is my home, and has been my family’s home for generations, but it has become too expensive to live here. I refuse to remain passive on legislation that will save lives, protect immigrants, defend workers, and make my neighbors' lives easier. I was taught from an early age that my primary obligation does not lie within myself, but within my community.
I cannot help but fight for my home, and I am unbelievably grateful that thousands of members of my community have already trusted me to advocate on their behalf as District Leader. As an Assembly Member, I am ready to organize tirelessly to tax the rich, build affordable homes, protect us from the climate crisis, and pass every piece of progressive legislation that has languished for years in committee. We need a true activist in this seat — someone who won't have political capital as their primary concern, but ensuring that Brooklyn is affordable and equitable enough for everyone and anyone to build a life here.

As District Leader, I have been pressuring local elected officials to support party reforms and leftist policy, organizing to keep County Committee members and other local Democrats involved and informed, and harnessing the resources of our district to benefit the people who need them most.
